WordCamp Mukono 2026, happening March 13th & 14th at Murs Country Resort, Kigunga in Mukono, Uganda, is expanding its scope to intentionally include Educators and Education Innovators as part of its core program.
The Call for Speakers clearly welcomed proposals from education professionals, schools, training institutions, and community learning initiatives and the schedule is now up and live. In prior editions, there has also been strong community interest in learning-focused sessions, and this year the organizing team has responded by creating room in the program for topics that support educators, students, and digital learning.
Why the Educators’ Track Matters
Education is a cornerstone of sustainable community growth. At WordCamp Mukono 2026, the Educators’ Track, while evolving into a full series of sessions is being shaped around practical digital skills, community engagement, and pathways into the WordPress and open-source ecosystem.
This track will:
- Introduce educators to WordPress and open source as tools for teaching, publishing, and digital learning.
- Support student engagement by showcasing how schools, universities, and training programs can use WordPress as an educational platform.
- Bridge the gap between education institutions and the tech ecosystem, helping teachers connect with developers, designers, and WordPress professionals.
- Encourage contributions to open source from young learners and educators alike — a critical skill in 21st-century digital education.
- Connecting Tech talent with employers and vice versa
By embedding education-focused programming into the WordCamp agenda, the event acknowledges that teachers and trainers play a key role in shaping future digital talent.
