We believe hosting should do more than just function properly. Since Halvar was founded, it’s been driven by a simple belief, technology should benefit both people and the planet. IT often overlooks its environmental impact and we’re here to change that.
We build our servers and infrastructure using a mix of new and refurbished components, making them fast, reliable and sustainable while saving materials and extending hardware lifespan. Our hosting is fully green and GDPR-compliant, we use 100% green energy, operate in a datacenter with a PUE of 1.15 and reuse residual heat to warm nearby offices, saving over 800,000 cubic meters of gas annually.
We work fully from home to cut down on travel, using public transport for events and client meetings.
We also make our physical marketing materials circular and reusable, for example, our banners are designed without dates or event logos.
We buy JustDiggit Foundation bunds in Africa, helping to bring dry and degraded landscapes back to life.
All our sustainability efforts have been recognized, we won First Prize at DrupalCon 2024 for the most sustainable exhibitor.
We actively contribute to open-source platforms like WordPress, participating in core development and developing plugins. Our servers are optimized for all open-source platforms, whether it’s Drupal, Laravel, or your own custom MVC framework, our servers are optimized to perform flawlessly. We want to support developers as passionately as we support the planet.
Choosing Halvar isn’t just smart hosting, it’s hosting you can feel proud of.
As a Bronze Sponsor of WordCamp Mukono 2026, we celebrate the power of community, learning and responsible technology. WordCamp brings together different types of people to share knowledge and build better experiences. We’re proud to be a Bronze Sponsor of this event, helping participants grow while keeping sustainability at the heart of everything we do.
