WordCamp Mukono 2025 made history on March 8th, bringing the WordPress community together for an unforgettable day of learning, networking, and celebration. As the first-ever WordCamp in Mukono, Uganda, this groundbreaking event exceeded all expectations, drawing over 150 enthusiastic attendees to the Bishop Ssebaggala Synod Hall in Mukono. Themed “WP HERoes: Women Powering the WordPress Universe,” the event honored the remarkable contributions of women in the WordPress ecosystem, making it a truly inspiring gathering.

A WordPress-Powered Celebration

The excitement leading up to WordCamp Mukono was undeniable, and the event did not disappoint. From engaging speaker sessions to hands-on workshops, attendees had the chance to expand their knowledge, connect with industry experts, and gain insights into the ever-evolving world of WordPress. The energy in the room was electric as WordPress enthusiasts, developers, designers, bloggers, and business owners came together to share ideas and experiences.

The event was mainly spearheaded by female speakers (majority) who shared their journeys and insights on leadership, community building, and innovation. Additionally, interactive Q&A sessions allowed attendees to engage directly with industry experts, making the learning experience even more dynamic.

A highlight of the event was the FSE SPEED BUILD that showcased full site editing skills to quickly achieve a website in just 45minutes.The contestants each explained how they achieved the uniqueness in their websites. The Experience was not on who does it better but aimed at showing that anyone could build with the site editor with or without the skill. The exercise included FSE experts and 1st time users who were actually doing things for the very first time.

Swag, Sessions, and Speed Builds

Attendees didn’t just walk away with new knowledge—they also walked away with epic swag! From T-shirts to stickers and buttons, WordCamp Mukono 2025 had plenty of goodies to keep the WordPress spirit alive long after the event. And let’s not forget the legendary Speed Build competition, where developers raced against the clock to build a functional website in record time—an exhilarating showdown that had the crowd on the edge of their seats.

Workshops on topics such as SEO optimization, accessibility, and WordPress security were a major draw, equipping attendees with practical skills to apply in their projects. Community-driven discussions on open-source contributions also encouraged more people to get involved in the global WordPress movement.

A Sold-Out Success

With tickets selling out fast, the venue was packed with over 150 participants, making it one of the most vibrant WordPress gatherings in Uganda. The demand was overwhelming, and to ensure that many hopefuls don’t miss out on tickets, organizers worked hard to accommodate as many as possible. The enthusiastic turnout proved just how much the WordPress community in Mukono and beyond is thriving. Event had many people paying at the entrance. 

Food, Fun, and Fellowship

Of course, no Ugandan event is complete without great food, and WordCamp Mukono delivered on that front as well! Attendees enjoyed a delicious spread that kept them energized throughout the sessions. The breaks were filled with laughter, conversations, and connections that will continue to grow beyond this event. Melas were served on time from Breakfast to refreshments. The food was on time, water well cooled and the Juice epitomed the menu
